NO CONTACT DETAILS YET - SITE NOT LIVE
Firstly, thanks for visiting.
This site contains details of all systems, components, parts that I may have for sale. The inclusion of any item on this site does not mean that it is for sale. Each item will clearly state if it is NOT for sale.
I must stress, that unfortunately, ALL ITEMS ARE FOR COLLECTION ONLY! I cannot stress that enough and I am aware that it will put some folk off and also make it impossible for others, but there you have it. If you are really desperate, I will work with you and see if some mutual beneficial solution is available, but if we take it that in the first instance it’s collection only, we know where we stand.
Current location of everything is Cradley Heath in the West Midlands (England – United Kingdom).
This site is consistently being worked on, with descriptions, system outputs and photos.
I will be putting stuff on eBay in the main, and hopefully selling of large chunks in one go. I am of course open to offers, but please do not be offended if I reject any offers.
Also please take it that ALL hard disks MAY be wiped clear of any software and data
This site (sgug.uk) is not in any way affiliated with the Silicon Graphic User Group (SGUG).
Some History:-
These are all systems/components etc. that I have obtained over many years of computing as a hobby and in the industry. I have used many if not most of these over the years especially the UNIX / SGI systems. I still use in production to this day a Tezro, Octane, Indy, Origin 2000 and two Visual Workstations that I’ve replaced the guts for slightly more modern usable boards (don’t worry, they are the run of the mill second generation that really are just standard PCs).
The truth:-
Well, some of the stuff I have is junk, doesn’t work, some work but have a fault, some work perfectly. The description I will place next to each item will be an honest and true reflection as to if I think it’s a pile of crap.
Some system would make good projects, some possibly good for spares and others good straight out the box. It should be noted that all this stuff is going to be pretty old, so scuffs, scratches and the fact some could die in your hands pretty much in any coming months. This is particularly true of UNIX/SGI systems, heck these things are so finicky that some days you only have to give them a wrong look and they pack in! Which is why, the systems I have in use, I never unplug and never mess with them. I would say that if you are looking at getting systems of this vintage you know what your doing, and if you don’t, I suggest doing some research beforehand, because these systems can be a money pit.
With the above in mind, I must also state that none of this is warranted in anyway. Which is why collection is best, and you can come and try them out and if we find a problem, we can see what we can do at the time.
Your sincerely Mark
